National retailer Sears will cease operations effective immediately as an investigation into safety concerns kicks into high gear.

The property has dealt with numerous structural isssues and workplace safety violations over the years, leading to a high level city-led investigation that resulted in an almost immediate termination of their business license. Local authorities are not commenting on the case as it is ongoing. The popular shopping destination has closed its doors and the building is unlikely to be sold any time soon.
